Dominique Lanz

Dominique Lanz (b. Frankfurt am Main, Germany; lives in Zurich) is a visual artist with an interdisciplinary practice rooted in textile, a textile designer and cultural worker. The topics she addresses in her work are inextricably linked to the medium of textiles: repulsion and desire, excess, overproduction, the ecological entanglement of human-made matter with nature and waste flows. Through the tensions between past and present, fragility and permanence, and working with traditional craft and machine, Lanz' textile works function like portals: openings into the unseen labour and forgotten materials that shape our daily lives.

A graduate of the MA Textiles at the Royal College of Art London (2023/24), her work has been exhibited in institutions as well as independent spaces. Recent shows include Museum für Gestaltung Zürich, Textile Manifestos and Atelier Zanolli (2025, 2022), both curated by Sabine Flaschberger, and the Museum of Cultures Basel; Straw Gold (2016), and is part of the collections of both museums. She has done artist residencies internationally: The Kokrobitey Institute, Kokrobite, Ghana (2026); Fundaziun Nairs, Scuol, Switzerland (2025); and Palazzo Trevisan degli Ulivi, Venice, Italy (2022).
